The 7th Impact Workshop on the contractual PPPs, organised by the European Commission, took place on the 17 May 2017. The workshop gathered representatives from different Horizon 2020 projects funded under the 2014-2016 cPPP calls for proposals, and the members of the cPPP Partnership Boards. Three SPIRE projects were showcased, including SHAREBOX which has three partners from the world of ceramics: Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica (a research institute), Keros Cerámica S.L. (wall and floor tiles manufacturer), and Kerafrit S.A. (frit producer). The aim of SHAREBOX is to develop a secure platform for the flexible management of shared resources. When in operation, it will provide production managers with robust, reliable and real-time information that they can use to effectively share resources with other companies in a symbiotic way. The resources can be anything from energy, water and residues, to human resources. The project began in 2015 and will finish in 2019. The representative from SHAREBOX said that they are happy with the progress so far, but that the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) fall short of capturing social or policy change which underpin the types of changes necessary to capitalise on industrial symbiosis. The Impact Workshop was a good opportunity to improve visibility of cPPP projects which will be important in influencing the next framework partnership for research and innovation to replace Horizon 2020 post 2020.
