Trade Policy Manager
Cerame-Unie Aisbl (CU) is the European Ceramic Industry Association. Based in Brussels since 1962, it is the voice of the European ceramic industry to the EU institutions. The European ceramic industry accounts for a total annual turnover of €37 billion and generates over 200,000 direct jobs. At the EU level, the industry is involved in policy debates in the fields of environment and health, energy & climate change, construction, international trade, internal market and research and innovation.
More particularly in relation to international trade, the European ceramic industry is perceived as a trade champion, contributing positively to the EU’s trade balance at the level of 5.1 billion euros. In this context, Cerame-Unie works closely with its members and the EU institutions, making use of EU market access and trade policy instruments to promote the enforcement of trade rules and tackle unfair trade practices in the EU and in third markets.

To achieve its priorities notably in the field of trade policy, Cerame-Unie is currently seeking a Trade Policy Manager.
Tasks:
- Develop and implement together with Cerame-Unie members advocacy strategies in the field of trade policy;
- Monitor and analyse developments in the trade performance of ceramic sectors and all EU trade policies and instruments relevant to the European ceramic industry;
- Proactively represent Cerame-Unie across relevant EU institutions, organisations, alliances, and other platforms in the field of trade policy;
- Manage Trade experts’ working groups within the ceramic industry and implement actions;
- Provide daily support to Cerame-Unie members in relation to the above mentioned fields; Collect and circulate relevant information and statistics to members;
- Co-ordinate of the activities of one particular ceramic sector among the sectors represented by Cerame-Unie together with the support of other Cerame-Unie colleagues for non-trade related topics.
PROFILE:
- Higher education degree – background in economics, law or political sciences, or experience demonstrating similar competences;
- Relevant experience in the field of trade policy;
- Familiarity with Eurostat (a plus) and good Excel skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus;
- Ability to autonomously implement advocacy strategies related to trade and international competitiveness;
- Strong analytical skills in trade and competitiveness; ability to collect, analyse and process economic and statistical data;
- A good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions;
- A dynamic personality, flexible, capable of working in a small team, well organised and able to work for a trade association in an international environment.
