AEGIS Europe, an organisation representing the interests of the manufacturing industries in the European Union, and IndustriAll Europe, the European trade union federation for manufacturing, mining and energy workers, hosted the Conference "Manufacturing Europe’s Future: How to combat growing deindustrialisation and ensure good industrial jobs? ", on Thursday, 21 March 2024 at BluePoint Brussels.
On the occasion of the event, AEGIS Europe and industriAll Europe presented their organisations’ manifestos ahead of the 2024 elections. The conference hosted two panel debates on industrial and trade policy, aiming to discuss the essential conditions for EU manufacturing to remain competitive in the upcoming 2024-2029 political cycle while having at the core the interest and rights of workers.
Renaud Batier (Director General of Cerame-Unie) opened the conference as Co-Chair, together with Judith Judith Kirton-Darling (General Secretary of industriAll Europe), delivering statistics to show the scale of deindustrialisation in Europe and the impact of the energy crisis.
The two-panel discussions that followed counted with the interventions of distinguished speakers such as DG GROW’s DG Kerstin Jorna and DG Trade Deputy DG Leopoldo Rubinacci. The EU Ceramic Industry was directly represented in the second panel through the kind participation of Mr Francisco Carvajal, Managing Director, Roca Tiles (Grupo Lamosa).
