The BREF-Document (BAT-Reference Document) defines the Best Available Techniques to each specific sector in the European Union. The latest version of BAT- BREFs, is covered by the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), thus making the values and best available techniques described in BREF mandatory to follow.

The current revision of the Ceramics BREF started on 5 June 2019.

Cerame-Unie has so far submitted the initial positions (first step in the process) in addition to an independent study on the key environmental indicators of the Ceramics industry , and will have the kick-off meeting in April/May 2020.
