The European ceramics industry understands the importance of research and innovation for maintaining our global competitiveness, creating new market opportunities, and becoming more sustainable.
An innovative ceramics industry is vital for delivering on our objectives of becoming more sustainable, particularly in terms of energy and resource efficiency. There are synergies between the ceramic industry’s own objectives set out in “Paving the way to 2050: The Ceramic Industry Roadmap” and the Europe 2020 Targets. Improvements in the environmental performance of the ceramics industry are linked to the European Union’s targets for a 20% increase in energy efficiency and a 20% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions based on 1990 levels by 2020. EU-funded projects support these synergies by supporting R&I in the ceramics industry.
To bring these projects together in one place, Cerame-Unie has put together a non-exhaustive inventory that will be updated continuously as new projects begin. We hope it will be a good starting point to learn about the instrumental research and breakthrough technologies that concern the ceramics industry.
