On 29 January 2018, the European Commission's (EC) DG Environment commissioned the second Product Environmental Footprint 4 Buildings (PEF4Buildings) Stakeholder Workshop.

The aim of the PEF4Buildings study is to test the applicability of the PEF method and related guidance documents to new office buildings. Participants at the workshop received an overview of the study concerning the applicability of the PEF method to new office buildings as well as an assessment of alternative possible approaches to the definition of benchmarks and performance classes for office buildings.

The workshop was also an occasion to brain-storm on a proposal for guidance on how to link assessment of the environmental performance of construction products to the assessment of the environmental performance of buildings by using the PEF method. A draft report will be presented by the consultants to the EC in early March 2018 and the final report will be ready by May 2018.
