The European ceramic industry welcomes the adoption by the European Parliament of the IMCO report on the Commission’s proposal for a revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) during its plenary session of 11 July 2023.
Cerame-Unie fully supports the CPR revision objectives to achieve a well-functioning single market for construction products as well as to contribute to the green and digital transition for a resource-efficient, circular and competitive construction industry in Europe, with an efficient standardisation system.
More particularly, the ceramic industry welcomes the reintroduction by the European Parliament of sanitary appliances in the scope of the CPR.
In a time of growing need for communicating on environmental and sustainability performance of construction products, Cerame-Unie welcomes the recognition of EN 15804, the European standard used to develop Environmental Product Declarations, as the assessment method for the calculation of environmental sustainability of construction products. Cerame-Unie welcomes that EN15804 indicators become part of the mandatory declaration process to ensure that construction products will deliver the right information to enable the sustainability assessment of buildings.
Lastly, we welcome a shorter transition period between the current and the revised CPR to ensure a smooth adaptation on the market.
Cerame-Unie looks forward to constructive developments during the upcoming trilogue negotiations.Â
