The European Parliament voted on 21 November to include 17 technologies in the EU’s Net-Zero Industry Act, clearing the path for discussions with EU Member States to conclude the legislation in December.
Energy Intensive Industries, which provide indispensable materials for the decarbonisation of the industry and economy, welcome the European Parliament vote on the Net Zero Industry Act. Our sectors, however, commend for the extension of the list of net-zero technologies to include: the “high-efficiency industrial process and electrification technologies for energy and carbon intensive industries” as well as the extension of scope of the act to cover components, products, and materials, starting with raw materials along the supply chains of net-zero technologies.
