On September 6th, the 12 energy intensive industries representing a fundamental part of the European economy, jointly wrote to President von der Leyen concerning the EU gas and electricity prices and calling on urgent actions at EU level.
Highlighting that in the last weeks, due to the elevated energy prices, a great number of industrial plants have shut their doors or reduced their production in Europe which is starting to have a great impact on the value chain of the industries, endangering European industrial base and the availability of essential products more broadly.
The energy intensive industries "call on the European Union to urgently introduce EU-wide measures aimed at limiting the price on natural gas and also measures designed to disconnect electricity prices from gas prices".
