On 27 Sept Cerame-Unie, together with several energy-intensive industries which are under direct impact of EU ETS and are deemed exposed to carbon, investment and employment leakage, published a message to MEPs and politicians against the “tiered approach” to free allocation.

In the letter industries urge MEPs to acknowledge the importance of their sectors for the EU economy, in particular for European jobs, and their economic value chains, by rejecting proposals for “tiered approach” to free allocation and voting against it. The message clearly opposes any “tiered approach” and advocates for 100% free allocation up to emissions efficiency benchmark levels, without differentiation.
